Important Information
This free e-newsletter is borne out of a
passion for proper health education to be made freely available to
everyone (and don’t worry, your email address will never be given to
anyone else – it remains confidential). I am 100% dedicated to finding
and reporting the truth on topics that matter and I am also
100% independent, which means I take no
money from companies or products I may write about, and I cannot be
bought off by suppliers. It is also not my intention to sell you
anything in this newsletter and I promote what I believe to be the
absolute truth at all times. Sometimes people heavily promote a
particular brand of water filter, cleaning agent, health product or
equipment for monetary gain, free advertising or some exposure as a
result of their “endorsement”. I have never done this, nor will I ever
do so. It is my absolute joy and pleasure to provide scientific
information in this newsletter – for free! Hope you enjoy it!

OldTheories
Based on Ignorance |
 |
“The belief that a good diet
together with a standard
multivitamin and milk three
times a day will prevent vitamin
D deficiency in older children,
teens, and adults is common in
the medical profession. In
reality, two ways exist to
obtain enough vitamin D, the sun
or a pill containing thousands
of units. In the complete
absence of both, vitamin D
deficiency will occur 100% of
the time – unless cold water
fish is
consumed eight times a day |
|
|
Next
time you hear someone say that all
vitamins can be obtained from a good
diet, know that person to be ignorant.”
Dr John Cannell MD Vit D Council
|
|
Benefits of Multivitamins
The American Journal of Clinical
Nutrition (Sept 22, 2010) published an
article showing the association between
multivitamin use and a reduced risk of
heart attack in older women. Who
says vitamins are not important?
This up-to-date study had 2,262 women
with a history of cardiovascular disease
(CVD) and 31,671 women with no history
of CVD who participated in the Swedish
Mammography Cohort established
1987-1990. The participants’
questionnaires provided the Karolinska
Institutet researchers with information
concerning supplement use.
Over the 10 year follow-up period, those
with a history of CVD taking a
multinutrient had a 27% lower risk than
those who didn’t use supplements,
judging from heart attacks in the 2
groups. Those who used a multivitamin
with other supplements had a 30%
reduction in risk. Great reasons to
supplement!! |

More on The Fatally-Flawed China Study
(this month’s quotes from Dr Mercola)
“Since this book is widely trusted and
used to defend a no animal protein
position I thought it was important to
provide my views on why I believe this
work has some fundamental flaws.
Another
nutritional physician who has taken a
hard look at Dr. Campbell’s book,
and the studies that form the basis of
his conclusions, is
Dr. Michael R. Eades, M.D.
Dr. Eades has been in full-time practice
of nutritional and metabolic medicine
since 1986, and like myself, has treated
tens of thousands of patients.
Interestingly, Campbell, on the other
hand, is not a practicing physician and
has no real-world experience to support
the veracity of his nutritional
recommendations for the population at
large. |
|
|
|
Major Reasons Why the China Study is
Fatally Flawed
The very title of the book is
inaccurate. It is NOT a study but a
comprehensive set of observations.
While this approach can be valuable, it
can never prove his assertion that
animal protein should be avoided, as
he never TESTED that theory on real live
patients... The data from Dr.
Campbell’s China study was first
published in the tome Diet,
Life-Style and Mortality in China.
It contains several thousands of
statistical correlations, which Campbell
insists show that animal protein intake
is convincingly associated with
prevalence of cancer. However, it’s
important to realize two things:
1.
The China
study was an observational study.
Correlations deduced from an
observational study do not – in fact,
cannot - prove causation. As Dr.
Eades points out, all you can really do
with data from an observational study is
to form a hypothesis, which must
then be tested in randomized,
controlled trials, to ferret out the
truth about whether or not x actually
causes y.
2.
In many
cases, the data (presented in arduous
detail in the book Diet, Life-Style
and Mortality in China) do not
show statistically significant
correlations between animal
protein consumption and disease such as
cancer at all. On the contrary. It
would seem that sugar and carbohydrates
are correlated with cancer – not
animal protein. In addition, the
data indicate that fat is negatively
correlated with cancer mortality,
which again contradicts the claim
that meat is harmful.
For more information, I highly recommend
reading through Dr. Eade’s critique of
The China Study.You
can also review another critique of the
China Study by Science Based medicine.
It is particularly interesting because
the reviewer was initially a strong
supporter of the "study" until faced
with the facts.

Cholesterol Truths
Cholesterol is not an
evil, dangerous thing to fear
as foretold in the flawed China
Study – God made our livers to
make cholesterol for us, and I
reckon He knows what He was
doing! Less than 20% of your
body’s cholesterol comes from
what you eat and the rest
(around 75-80%) is made by your
liver to: |
|
|
·
Assist in the manufacture of hormones
·
To manufacture Vitamin D
·
Assist in the breakdown of carbohydrates
and proteins
·
Form a protective coating around your
nerves
·
Build cell walls and productive bile
(the world "cholesterol" is Geek for
bile solids")
Don’t let anyone scare you to death
about your cholesterol levels!
Cholesterol is good, unless you eat junk
food often, which turns “good”
cholesterol “bad” and causes problems.
And a bad diet cannot be rectified with
drugs. Lifestyle modification and a
healthy, fad-free way of eating is
always best. Don’t forget to attend the
Cholesterol Summer Health Breakfast on
Tuesday 8th February in
Bishopscourt – where I’ll tell you how
and what to test for, how to interpret
your results, and what to do about them!

Health Tip: Adrenal Fatigue |
 |
Known as the Disease of
the 21st Century,
Adrenal Fatigue is no laughing
matter! Having suffered from
this myself many years ago, and
been expertly handled by a
fabulous medical doctor (Dr
Robbie Simons, now in Australia)
who was also qualified in
nutrition, I was able to recover
amazingly. Remember there
are 5 KEY principles
|
|
|
you need to include according to the USA
world expert in this debilitating
condition:
1.
NO FRUIT for
several months
2. PLENTY of rest – naps in the day and
a good night’s sleep
3. VERY little exercise – only gentle
walks, and only if you feel like it
4. Include LOTS of animal protein (very
important!) – and eat meals 6 times a
day
5. EAT protein WITH complex
carbohydrates plus healthy fats &
vegetables at every
meal
This is a huge subject, and one
which will be addressed more fully at
our Choose Life Women’s Health
Conferences this month.

Spiritual Health:
Proverbs
10:22 in The Bible says: “It
is the blessing of the LORD that makes rich, and He
adds no sorrow to it.”
But what are the true riches in this life? Will you die
wishing you had more money?
I
think not… True riches, real success and
unparalleled |
|
|
wealth in this life are people. Yes, we need
money to live, and it’s always nice to have a little
extra – but enrich yourself with precious relationships,
enrich others by giving to those who don’t have – give
your time, give your heart – and you will be building up
treasures in a heavenly ‘bank account’. But even if you
are blessed to have riches in this life, realize that it
is God alone who gives lavishly - and the amazing thing
is that “… He adds no sorrow to it”. What an
amazing, loving, outrageously wonderful heavenly Father
we have! How can we not want to abandon
ourselves to Him? |

Love and kindness are never wasted. They always make a
difference. They bless the one who
receives them, and they bless you, the
