I
mportant Information
This free e-newsletter is borne out of a passion for proper health education to be made freely available to everyone (and don’t worry, your email address will never be given to anyone else – it remains confidential). I am 100% dedicated to finding and reporting the truth on topics that matter and I am also 100% independent, which means I take no money from companies or products I may write about, and I cannot be bought off by suppliers. It is also not my intention to sell you anything in this newsletter and I promote what I believe to be the absolute truth at all times. Sometimes people heavily promote a particular brand of water filter, cleaning agent, health product or equipment for monetary gain, free advertising or some exposure as a result of their “endorsement”. I have never done this, nor will I ever do so. It is my absolute joy and pleasure to provide scientific information in this newsletter – for free! Hope you enjoy it!

Are you being Poisoned?

Carrying on our theme of avoiding poisons in our environment and products, please take a few minutes to watch this just-released, powerful 7 minute film by storyofcosmetics.org.  It examines the pervasive use of toxic chemicals in our everyday personal care products, from lipstick to baby shampoo, and I strongly encourage you to share this message. Get your pen & a piece of paper out to take down some of these chemical names too so that you can avoid them in all the products you buy – including ‘natural’ products.

Toxic chemicals have the potential to harm and disrupt your endocrine system – and these concerns have now been validated at the highest level by the US President's Cancer Panel in their just-released report 'Reducing Environmental Cancer Risk: What We Can Do Now'.  The eminent advisers on the Cancer Panel confirm endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) can interfere with normal animal or human hormonal systems and alter hormone action. In particular, they highlight the misnomer that these chemicals are only harmful in high doses, pointing to evidence that "many EDC effects may occur at low doses..." These include nasties like Bisphenol A (BPA), phthalates, parabens and growth promoters used in food production. In fact, LaSalle D Leffall Jr, MD, Chair of the Panel, said “In girls, phthalates may cause early puberty and higher breast cancer rates later in life... [and] have been linked to problems with sperm count and sperm quality, and like other EDCs, phthalates are a suspected breast carcinogen"

B6 FOR RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

A brand new study published in June by the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition has shown that taking high doses of Vitamin B6 (sometimes called P5P or pyridoxine) may reduce the inflammatory markers associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) according to the researchers.  What gets to me is that there are still people going around saying that nutritional supplements don’t help, and study after study is telling us otherwise! This is one example.

RA is an autoimmune disorder where the body’s own immune system turns on itself.  RA is not like osteoarthritis, where only the bones and cartilage in joints is affected – this form of arthritis may cause severe swelling in other parts of the body. In the 12-week study 35 RA sufferers were randomly given either 100mg B5 + 5mg folic acid, or just the 5mg folic acid alone daily, even though the recommended daily allowance for B6 is only 1.3mg/day.  With blood testing, researchers measured the pro-inflammatory markers at the beginning of the study of all the participants, including: interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), C-reactive protein and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), plus the immune responses were measured by noting the number of immune cells present in the blood.

IL-6 and TNF-alpha levels significantly decreased in the vitamin B6 group after supplementation, while no significant changes were noted in the folic acid group, although the number of immune cells was similar in both groups.  Other possible beneficial and highly effective aids for RA include borage seed oil (GLA), and high-dose fish oil supplements to reduce morning stiffness and joint pain. [Huang SC, Wei JC, Wu DJ, et al. Vitamin B(6) supplementation improves pro-inflammatory responses in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Eur J Clin Nutr. 2010 Jun 23. View Abstract]

Testimony After my May newsletter on “Pulling the Wool Over your Eyes” (see

my site) where I exposed the dangerous chemicals in so-called healthy washing powders – I received this lovely letter:

Good Afternoon Sally, recently your May newsletter had an article headed "Pulling the Wool over Your Eyes" about washing powders and their contents. I printed it out and gave it to a friend and have other

people interested in what you told us in that article. I personally went up to my local health store and told the lady about what you had said and did she sell anything without all the chemicals. The lady pointed to a shelf with a whole row of 1kg and 2kg buckets of Triple Orange Bio Detergent which is 100% Orange Oil Base. Where have I been all this time not to know about this? Thank you so much for your newsletters and God bless your work. Sincerely, Doreen Flanagan

(PS: This is what I have used for ages, and we sell the gorgeous Triple Orange range of washing gel for clothing and for dishes – contact us for more information)

A quick recipe from my new book “Raising Happy Healthy Children”,
out in stores now

Healthy TLC Lemonade
With summer just about here, you’ll want the whole family to enjoy healthy lemonade, so give this a try instead of the chemical, fructose-laden offerings in the stores!

What you’ll need:
The juice of one lemon Xylitol to taste
Lots of ice blocks Cold Rooibos tea (optional)

Squeezed orange, pureed apple or mashed mango!

What you do with this: Mix together the lemon juice, xylitol, and ice blocks. The cold Rooibos tea can be a base for this, and then add in the squeezed orange, pureed apple or mashed mango – and enjoy!

Spiritual Health:

How would you feel if someone came up to you to whom you owed a million Rand – and said – I release you from this debt?  Jesus has released us from a debt of sin and failure which is far in excess of any money – we are free – totally free – when we turn our lives over to Him.  Find real freedom in Christ – it will change you forever!
