Important Information
This free e-newsletter is borne out of a passion for proper health education to be made freely available to everyone (and don’t worry, your email address will never be given to anyone else – it remains confidential). I am 100% dedicated to finding and reporting the truth on topics that matter and I am also 100% independent, which means I take no money from companies or products I may write about, and I cannot be bought off by suppliers. It is also not my intention to sell you anything in this newsletter and I promote what I believe to be the absolute truth at all times. Sometimes people heavily promote a particular brand of water filter, cleaning agent, health product or equipment for monetary gain, free advertising or some exposure as a result of their “endorsement”. I have never done this, nor will I ever do so. It is my absolute joy and pleasure to provide scientific information in this newsletter – for free! Hope you enjoy it!

The information herein should not be used to treat or to prevent any medical condition unless it is used with the full knowledge, compliance and agreement of your personal physician or other licensed health care professional. Readers are strongly advised to seek the advice of their personal health care professional before proceeding with any changes in any health care programme. GENERAL HEALTH NEWSLETTER – APRIL 2008

April Fool’s Day is over, thank goodness, and all the spam that goes with it.  There was one quite fun site that was sent to me with some of the best April Fools jokes of all time.  Have a look - click here (rather fun and no, this is not a joke!)  This month we read of the outbreak of “Drunkorexia”, a new form of eating (or would that be non-eating) disorder where young women trying to lose weight use alcohol instead of food – see Subscriber Newsletter.

What’s New?

MaxiBiotic Range
My personal MaxiBiotic Probiotic range will be launched this month (in three strengths) plus a special Prebiotic!  So watch out for these. I’ve found the very best quality at the best prices. MaxiBiotic will come in 20 billion CFUs and 5 billion CFU’s at much less than you’d expect to pay.  Capsules for ninnies, powders for the rest!

Le Creuset
Creeds is honoured to carry the gorgeous French Le Creuset range of cast iron, enameled pots which you will find in in-store, or order through our mail order system.  These are the very best pots to cook in both from a taste and health perspective, and are fantastic for energy saving!

Growing Creeds Range
The Creeds branded range is up to over 100 products now – please feel free to contact the office if you would like to become an outlet or agent for our products in your area.  Requests for stock from all over the country are placing heavy demands on us, and approved agents would be an easier option for us all. The range comprises foods and a fast-expanding MCC Registered nutraceutical range, some of which are unique to this country, with many new surprises coming during this year. Contact us on info@creeds.co.za for more information.

Constipation
I’m often asked what to do about this irritating malady – hopefully these 8 tried and tested remedies will be helpful if this is your problem:

  1. 1/3 of a cup of molasses is a good natural laxative (get organic if you can)

  2. A glass or two of freshly juiced raw cabbage or zucchini works well.

  3. Sauerkraut, juice and all, is really one of the best (make it yourself though)

  4. 4000-6000mg Vitamin C taken AT ONCE generally works wonders, is safe and natural.  Add two teaspoons of calcium-magnesium gluconate and you have a brilliant natural remedy! (For massage techniques and the other helpful tips, please see Constipation on my website under “Health Articles” or just click here and scroll down to “Constipation”)

If your nose runs and your feet smell, then you are probably built upside down.

Links to Look At:

If you have been told that vitamins are harmful, you may want to read this. The American Association of Poison Control Centers, which maintains the USA’s national database from 61 poison control centers, indicates that even including intentional and accidental misuse, the number of vitamin fatalities is less than one death per year.  Drugs, however, are an entirely different matter: Harmful reactions to some of the most widely used medicines — from insulin to a common antibiotic — sent more than 700,000 Americans to emergency rooms each year, landmark government research shows.” (Associated Press, Oct 17, 2006; http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15305033/.)  And this, according to the researchers, is a conservative estimate.  Other reports say that over 100,000 people (conservatively) die each year from prescription drugs alone, in the USA.  Either way, it’s an awful lot compared with “less than one” vitamin fatality a year.  Less than one to me, indicates NONE per year!

New Wonder Supplement
Actually this is nothing new, but globally fish oil appears to be the new “wonder” food with doctors, nutritionists and any educated health professional right through to the housewife – and it’s gaining momentum daily.  Not with out good cause - of the hundreds of applications for this marvelous super-food, high dose pharmaceutical grade fish oil can provide the following for you (to name just a few of it’s myriad benefits, as it would need too many pages otherwise):

  • Improves memory loss

  • Greatly improves mood and stress relief

  • Boosts metabolism and controls appetite

  • Promotes normal weight maintenance at 3,000g per day (3 x 1000mg daily)

  • For increased weight loss: up to 3 times the recommended dosage

  • Helps to lower cholesterol

  • Helps blood pressure stabilize

  • Powerful anti-inflammatory

  • Aids in the maintenance of cardiovascular health in many ways

  • Radiant glowing skin and shiny hair – hydrates dry skin from the inside out

  • Hydrates acne prone skin counteracting drying effects of acne treatments

Try Creeds Ultimate Omega-3 oils (MCC Registered and Nappi Coded) - email us or visit Creeds super natural nutrition health store in Steenberg Village (www.creeds.co.za) where you will find a substantial range of pharmaceutical grade fish oils.  Why pharmaceutical grade?  Click here to find out.

Restless Leg Syndrome
To stop night time twitching, shaking and kicking of the legs, try taking some niacin (Vitamin B3). Dosage varies from person to person, so start with a low 50-100mg. By trial and experience, you learn just how much to take. While doing so, you may experience a warm flushing sensation, so take just enough to flush gently.  An interesting testimony states: “My husband has never been officially diagnosed, but has a lot of trouble sleeping. This year when he began kicking me all night, it got so bad that I wasn't going to be able to sleep in the same room. Every few seconds, his legs would move and it was driving me up the wall. I persuaded my husband to try Niacin with Vitamin C just before bedtime. Works like a charm, in fact when he missed his vitamins the other night, I could tell within minutes. What a great solution to a problem that so many suffer with!”

Instant Physical Fitness Test: Touch your toes.  If you can’t, you aren’t.

Health Café: Creeds Glazed Maple Walnuts (3 minutes)

You’ll need: 2 cups walnut halves; 1/3 cup maple syrup; 1/8 tspoon salt

To make it: Preheat a dry pan over a medium-high heat.  Add the walnuts, maple syrup and salt.  Cook, stirring frequently, until syrup is caramelized and nuts are toasted about 3 minutes.  Cool - and enjoy!

BYE FOR NOW
With changes of season come bronchitis, sore throats and viruses.  Make sure you are adequately fortified with plenty of Ester C (4-6g a day), 3g fish oil, a good multivitamin and quality healthy food. These will keep you healthy throughout the winter months.  God bless you till next month!
