I
mportant Information
This free e-newsletter is borne out of a passion for proper health education to be made freely available to everyone (and don’t worry, your email address will never be given to anyone else – it remains confidential). I am 100% dedicated to finding and reporting the truth on topics that matter and I am also 100% independent, which means I take no money from companies or products I may write about, and I cannot be bought off by suppliers. It is also not my intention to sell you anything in this newsletter and I promote what I believe to be the absolute truth at all times. Sometimes people heavily promote a particular brand of water filter, cleaning agent, health product or equipment for monetary gain, free advertising or some exposure as a result of their “endorsement”. I have never done this, nor will I ever do so. It is my absolute joy and pleasure to provide scientific information in this newsletter – for free! Hope you enjoy it!

Sally-Ann’s New Health Book Launch – June 2009

I’m delighted to announce that our new Health Journal For Women is now out – a book I co-authored with my dear friend, Aldyth. So much more than a journal, this health book will provide you with a 24-week journey to physical and spiritual well-being - it contains absolutely loads of health information from me, and heaps of spiritual sustenance from Aldyth.

The spiritual insights and health journey will truly offer you a “body, mind and spirit” experience in the fullest sense of the word.

It will nourish your soul whilst giving direction for nourishing your body – there are recipes, protocols, tips, goals, Bible readings and lots of space to journal. It retails at R119.95 for 324-pages.

Even if I say so myself, I believe this will be a fantastic 324-page book to give as a gift to virtually anyone (even men) - it’s packed full of valuable information. You can pick up a copy at Exclusive Books, CNA stores and Christian bookstores around the country, as well as our own Creeds store and Constantia office. All royalties go to Beauty For Ashes. [Watch for special giveaways for people ordering on our bulk list, and VIP gifts at Creeds.]

Watch Your Step

Did you know that each one of your feet have 26 bones, 33 joints, 107 ligaments and 19 muscles and that a quarter of all bones in the human body are in the feet? It’s no wonder then – particularly as the average person takes 8-10,000 steps a day (approximately 195,000km over a lifetime) – that your hard-working feet sometimes give trouble!

Orthopaedic Surgeons estimate that one in six people will develop a variety of foot problems. However, it's widely agreed that only a very small percentage of these people were born with foot problems; the majority have brought it upon themselves by poor foot care and ill-fitting shoes. Here are some things you can do to help avoid foot problems:

  • Have your feet measured each time you purchase new shoes. As you age, your feet can widen, and shoes which don’t fit properly are amongst the leading causes of foot problems such as bunions, corns, calluses, hammertoes and other disabling disorders.
  • Wear low-heeled shoes as high-heeled shoe wearers are 4 times more likely to suffer from foot problems. (Save the high-heels for special occasions!)
  • Try to avoid excessive foot sweating by giving feet ventilation regularly.
  • Keep toe nails well trimmed.
  • Avoid gaining weight as even a few extra kilos add greatly to the workload of the feet.

Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful – (Proverbs 27:6, The Holy Bible)

THE HEALTH CAFÉ

Recipe: Nutty Quinoa Flapjacks (Gluten-Free)

This is undeniably one of the MOST deliciously nutty flapjacks you will EVER eat! Check our website for loads on Quinoa:
http://www.creeds.co.za/quinoa.htm

What you need:
1½ cups Creeds All-Purpose Gluten-Free Flour
¼ cup quinoa flour (this gives the unbelievable taste)
2 tablespoons sugar (or Sweet Pea)
1 tablespoon baking powder
(or 1 ½ tbsp. Creeds Gluten-Free Baking Powder)
¼ teaspoon Himalayan salt
1 egg (lightly whisked)
1½ cups milk
3 tablespoons Creeds Macadamia oil (or olive oil)

What you do with this:
1. In a small bowl mix together flours, baking powder and salt.
2. In a medium bowl combine wet ingredients.
3. Add the flours to the medium bowl all at once and mix until just combined (there should still be lumps).
4. Cook in a hot oiled pan or flat griddle, flipping when you see lots of little bubbles on the surface of the flapjacks.
5. Serve with maple syrup, organic honey or a warm fruit compote.

Spiritual Health: Did you know that you can intimately know God - your Creator? You really can. Begin by praying this prayer: “Lord God, I know I have fallen short of Your perfect plan for my life, and my sins have separated me from knowing You. I want to turn away from my past sinful life and begin a brand new life with You. Please forgive me, and make me part of Your family. I believe that Your only Son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead and is alive right now. So I invite You, Jesus, to become the Lord of my life from today onwards. Amen.”

If you prayed that prayer, the following three things will help to consolidate this for you:
1. Tell someone you prayed this prayer and are now a child of the Living God.
2. Get a Bible and start to read the New Testament to get to know all about Jesus.
3. Find a local church where you can grow in this knowledge and assurance.
NB: If you want us to help you find a fantastic church in your area, please email us on pa@sallyanncreed.co.za
